Direct Drive Gearing
With a simple single-gear design, the pedals move right along with the bike. As the bike rolls forward, the user’s feet follow the pedals naturally. This steady motion helps train the legs to move in a smooth, back-and-forth rhythm, building strength and confidence. Over time, it can even lead to the user being able to pedal and propel the bike on their own. The level of Pedal Power is set to your preference when ordering the bike. Please note: this setting is fixed and cannot be adjusted after purchase
- Allows user to use the momentum of the bike to maintain momentum of the pedals
- Allows reverse motion for improved maneuverability and positioning
- Facilitates passive stretching for enhanced range of motion
- Promotes reciprocal leg movement
Free Wheel
The free wheel drive system is best for users who are able to propel the bike independently. It lets the user stop pedaling and continue to coast while the bike keeps moving. Unlike fixed-gear designs, the pedals do not keep turning once the user stops applying power. This feature provides a chance to rest the legs when fatigue sets in, making riding more comfortable and sustainable. The level of Pedal Power is set to your preference when ordering the bike. Please note: this setting is fixed and cannot be adjusted after purchase
- Allows the user to pause pedaling without interrupting forward motion
- Provides opportunities for rest and reduces risk of overexertion and fatigue
- Encourages longer participation in mobility and exercise
- Supports confidence and comfort
On/Off Pin Reciprocator
The on/off pin reciprocator gives families and caregivers the flexibility to adjust how the bike is used during longer rides. When fatigue sets in, the system can be switched to free wheel, allowing the user’s legs to rest while the bike continues to move forward. Once the user is ready to pedal again, it can be switched back to direct drive, enabling the user to propel the bike themselves. This adaptability makes it easier to balance comfort, endurance, and independence. The level of Pedal Power is set to your preference when ordering the bike. Please note: this setting is fixed and cannot be adjusted after purchase
- Provides flexibility between active pedaling and rest
- Supports reciprocal leg training to build strength and coordination
- Allows for fatigue management during longer rides
- Encourages progression toward independent propulsion
- Enhances caregiver control and adaptability during mobility activities
